The Intensive English for Internationals (IEI) at the 福利片国产 of Memphis helps students from around the world develop English proficiency, academic readiness, and intercultural competence. What We Do
IEI provides English language instruction for students pursuing academic, professional, or personal growth. Through personalized, in-person, discussion-based classes, students strengthen their reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and cross-cultural communication skills. Instruction is tailored to students' proficiency levels, with personalized feedback and support from experienced instructors and faculty.

A Supportive International Community
Studying in another language and culture is a major transition. IEI provides a welcoming environment where students receive academic, social, and cultural support. Through classroom learning, on/off campus activities, and cultural experiences, students build connections and become active members of the 福利片国产 of Memphis community.
Program Structure
IEI offers five 8-week sessions during the academic year, with start dates in January, March, May, August, and October. New students take a placement test at the beginning of the session and are placed into the level that best matches their current English ability.
Courses focus on the major skills needed for academic and real-world communication, including reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and vocabulary.
Full-time F-1 students must enroll full-time. Students who do not hold an F-1 visa may be eligible to study full-time or part-time, depending on their goals and availability.
