The lab focuses on developing and applying computational tools to solve complex problems in cardiovascular research. Areas of interest include structural heart biomechanics, patient-specific predictive modeling, surgical and interventional repair of valvular heart disease, turbulent blood flow, and risk assessment of cardiac events.

Dr. Gaidulis specializes in cardiovascular biomechanics and computational modeling of valvular heart disease. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical 福利片国产 in his home country of Lithuania in 2019. Before joining the 福利片国产 of Memphis, Dr. Gaidulis completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Surgery at Emory 福利片国产 and worked as a research faculty member in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on creating computational solutions that could translate toward clinical application and improve management of cardiovascular disease. Current projects include the development of predictive computational models to optimize cardiovascular repair strategies. As of 2024, Dr. Gaidulis has authored 10 journal publications and over 40 conference abstracts. He has instructed more than 10 courses, ranging from foundational concepts in biomedical engineering to advanced topics in cardiovascular biology and biomechanics, and has mentored over 20 undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Gaidulis is a member of American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Cardiology (ACC), Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and United States Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM).
