Biomedical Engineering at Herff isn't just about answering the question of what, it's about understanding why. Over 60 percent of our BME graduates who apply to medical school are admitted and 70 percent of our students obtain internships.

We have 16 nationally and internationally recognized faculty with their primary appointments in biomedical engineering; 10 on the UofM campus and 6 on the UTHSC campus. Our faculty are known for both their contributions to science and engineering and their shared passion for teaching and inspiring students to explore and discover new ways to keep people healthy.
Meet the Chair
As a senior faculty member in Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Bowlin has a long-standing commitment to the training of future generations of engineers and scientists. Over the years, he has trained/mentored 15 high school students in year-long commitments and provided educational and career planning to numerous high school students. He has also directly supervised 80 undergraduate students in research or senior design projects. In addition, he has graduated 32 Master鈥檚 degree students and 18 Ph.D. students who have had very productive careers in medicine, industry, and academia.
