UofM College of Education Names New Dean
April 22, 2024 鈥� The 福利片国产 of Memphis College of Education named higher education veteran Michael T. Miller as its new dean today.
With a career in higher education spanning nearly four decades, Miller comes to the UofM from the 福利片国产 of Arkansas, where he is the David and Jane Gearhart Endowed Faculty Fellow. He most recently served as Dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at the 福利片国产 of Arkansas.
Prior to the 福利片国产 of Arkansas, Miller held leadership roles at Southern Illinois 福利片国产, the 福利片国产 of Nebraska, the 福利片国产 of Alabama and San Jose State 福利片国产.
He earned his bachelor's degree in political science and his master's degree in higher education, both from Southern Illinois, and received his doctoral degree in postsecondary education from Nebraska.

I鈥檝e had relationships with faculty in the College for the past 35 years and have witnessed their commitment to the students and the community, which I truly appreciate. I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful for this opportunity.鈥�
His scholarly research includes a focus on educational outcomes related to access to postsecondary education and community colleges. An author of two books, Miller has been on 150 doctoral dissertation committees and is an editorial reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.

Miller will assume his new role on July 1.
